The Mercedes-Benz W203 is the internal designation for the second generation of the C-Class, produced from 2000 to 2007. It represented a significant design evolution from its predecessor, notably adopting a striking “four-eyed” headlight design that became a Mercedes trademark for that era. The W203 introduced a sharp, dynamic exterior look and brought numerous technological advancements to the compact executive segment, including features like standard Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and the optional COMAND infotainment system, making luxury and sophisticated safety more accessible.

This generation was popular for its variety, being offered as a traditional Sedan (W203), a practical Estate/Wagon (S203), and the distinctive three-door SportCoupé (CL203). Engine options were comprehensive, ranging from efficient Kompressor (supercharged) four-cylinders to powerful V6 petrol and common-rail diesel engines, including high-performance AMG variants like the C 32 and C 55. While the W203 is recognized for its handling improvements and robust build quality, early models can be susceptible to rust and certain electronic issues, which were generally addressed in the 2004 facelift, making later models highly regarded in the used car market as a comfortable and classic Benz.
